Independent, player-first coverage since 2016.
We're a small East London editorial team of five who play everything to completion before we publish a verdict. No embargoed hot takes, no scores traded for early access — just honest writing for people who care how a game actually feels in the hands.
From the Shoreditch studio we cover the whole frontier: AAA blockbusters, obscure itch.io gems, retro preservation and the hardware that runs it all. Reader-funded, ad-light, and proudly opinionated.
Every verdict earns its place.
A four-step editorial process keeps our coverage rigorous, consistent and free of publisher pressure.
Play to credits
We finish the main campaign and sample the endgame before a single line of the review is written.
Benchmark & test
Performance is measured on three hardware tiers, from a Steam Deck to a high-end rig, with real frame data.
Second opinion
A second editor plays the opening hours to check our read holds up beyond one person's taste.
Publish & revisit
Post-launch patches matter, so we date every verdict and update it when a game meaningfully changes.

Frequently asked.
Are your reviews sponsored or paid for?+
Never. Frontier Legends is reader-funded and we buy most of our own copies. When a publisher sends a review code we say so at the top of the article, and access is never tied to a score or a positive verdict.
How often do you publish new articles?+
Two full reviews land every week, on Tuesday and Friday, alongside a Sunday indie spotlight and occasional hardware pieces. Newsletter subscribers get an early-access link the evening before each verdict goes public.
Can I pitch a game or a guest piece?+
Yes — we love hearing from small studios and freelance writers. Email a short pitch to [email protected] with links to your work or a build. We read every message and reply within about a week, even to a no.
What platforms do you cover?+
PC is our home turf, but we regularly test on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and the Steam Deck. Where a game runs on several platforms we call out which version we played and how the others compare.
Is the newsletter free?+
The weekly newsletter is completely free and always will be. An optional £4/month membership removes the few ads we run, unlocks our full review archive and gets you into the monthly community playtest calls from the Shoreditch studio.
